Schools and Nusery Education

Hello,

Our names are Kate, Georgina and Amy; we are part of the oral heath team at Clarence House Dental Health Centre.

At Clarence House we are proud to have a caring and holistic approach that means that we place a strong emphasis on the prevention of dental diseases with the aim of keeping your teeth for life. We believe the best place to start is by helping to educate the young - but in a fun and friendly way. To help us promote good oral health in children we visit local primary schools and nurseries.

During our visits we talk to the children (and teachers) about oral hygiene, demonstrate brushing techniques and use disclosing solution to show any plaque that they have missed when brushing. We also help the children to identify sugars within their diet, which can help them to eat healthily and prevent them from needing to have dental treatment in the future. We also inform the children about what we do every day within our dental practice.

We like to do all of this in a fun and friendly way that helps encourage learning, we do this with work sheets, games and drawings and we dress the children up as a dentist, a dental nurse and a patient.

We hope that this approach helps children to be aware of good oral health from an early age, help their teeth to get the best possible start to grow strong, and importantly introduces them to dentistry at an early age to shows them that it is not a scary thing.

This Schools and Education section of our website will continue to grow in the future with a host of material such as pictures, examples, reviews and downloadable material so please keep coming back, however if in the meantime you would like us to visit your school or nursery, them please contact us by calling 01452 522720 or emailing schools@clarence-house.co.uk
