New Patients FAQ

Help - I haven’t been to the dentist since I was a child and I am very nervous!

We appreciate that going to the dentist after a long period of time can be very stressful. However, we will do everything that we can to help you remain calm and relaxed. We will explain everything we do and it is worth remembering that treatments have advanced a long way over the last few years. Please do ask if you have any questions or are unclear about anything we say, as we are happy to help.

What will happen at my first visit?

On your first visit, you will be met by our new patient co-ordinator. They will show you round Clarence House and begin your new patient consultation by asking you a series of questions. These help us to carry our a full assessment of your dental health and any dental treatment you have received in the past.

You will then be introduced to your dentist who will look at your jaw joints, soft tissues (both in and around the mouth), your gums, teeth and bite. This will involve a visual examination and any necessary tests, screening charts, photographs and x-rays. Your dentist will discuss the results of this examination with you in detail, any treatment needed and the different options available.

What type of x-ray do you use?

Our x-ray system is completely digital. This allows us to use a very much smaller x-ray exposure compared to conventional film systems. The information gained is extremely valuable and will help us to accurately assess each patient's individual treatment requirements.

How much will the treatment cost me?

You will be asked to pay for your first appointment at the time of booking. After that, the cost of any dental treatment will also be discussed with you once we have given you a full examination. We will agree them before any treatment begins and will provide a full, clear written estimate. We are happy to offer a number of finance options to help you pay for your treatment.
